Karen Holness is a true triple threat. Growing up with her sister, Juno and Soul Train award winner and Grammy nominated, Deborah Cox, music and performance came as second nature to Karen. Karen is thrilled to be honing her acting skills in the starring role, in the APTN/Global/Showcase new mini series ‘CASHING IN’.  As a singer Karen's Sassy band "Jazz, Baby" has been invited to participate in the "JAMAICAN JAZZ AND BLUES INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL".  And to round out the triple threat, Karen kicked up heels as a feature dancer in the Oscar award winning movie 'CHICAGO'.

Karen's most recent accomplishment is landing a recurring role on the hit series 'FRINGE' produced by J. J. Abrams. 

Karen plays Liz in 'CASHING IN', a big city executive sent to work in the backwoods of Canada has allowed Karen to finesse her comic timing and dramatic depth.  The Second season of Cashing in is scheduled to air in March of 2010.

Karen has also plays the supporting lead role of wife to the Oscar nominated and Emmy award winner Laurence Fishburne in the thriller ‘TORTURED’ and  A&E’s # 1 rated show ‘FLIGHT 93’.  Karen has had the opportunity to work with some of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities early on in her career.  Her recurring role as ‘Mary’ on Showtime’s TV mini series ‘Out of Order’ had her working alongside an all-star cast, including William H. Macy, Eric Stoltz, Felicity Huffman, Peter Bogdanovich and Justine Bateman. 

In addition, Karen can be seen with the Mowry Twins in the Disney Channel’s television movie 'TWITCHES and ‘TWITCHES TOO’. Karen also has the lead role of Mrs. Dolittle in 20th Century Fox’s ‘DR. DOLITTLE 4 – Top Dog’ and ‘DR. DOLITTLE 5 - Going Hollywood’.

Karen’s other television series, recurring and supporting roles include, Showtime’s ‘Out Of Time’, ‘Trust’, ‘Fighting The Odds ’ ‘Swarm’ and ‘Riverworld’ just to name a few.  Her guest star appearances include ‘Smallville’, ‘Exes and Ohs’,  ‘Saved’, ’Twilight Zone’, Dead Zone’ and Frances Ford Coppola’s ‘Firstwave’. Recently Karen guest starred as Gordina, the head of human resources, in the TV Series ‘JPOD’, written and co-produced by world-renowned novelist Douglas Coupland

After Attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts she began performing in musicals and toured nationally, She has performed in several musicals, including ‘RENT’; ‘JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT’ with Donnie Osmond, as the Egyptian seductress Mrs. Potipher; and in the Gershwin musical ‘CRAZY FOR YOU’, which she performed at the Royal Alexander Theatre.

When she’s not on a set or in a theatre, Karen can be seen performing with her two bands ‘Jazz, Baby’, a jazz quintet with a sound that is reminiscent of the 1920s, and ‘Boogie Fever’, a disco/funk band.

Karen continues to amaze us with her elegance and strength as an actor and vocalist.   She was born to perform and shine with the stars.
